Thank you to all of you who have replied to my post so far. I am now going ahead with the task - first, assembling all the photos, and illustrations that I think I might use in one file, and next, scanning o0ther materials for possible inclusion. After that, I will resize them all to 300dpi so as to have them ready to go. That's the housekeeping. After that I start on the editing of text, the inclusion of new information and so on. Next comes the visual redesign of the whole book, which is the most enjoyable part, since it is the most challenging. I would like to make it much livelier and more visually eye-catching, with illustrations embedded in the text at the appropriate points, perhaps with 'sidebars' in certain places that will explain or enlarge upon what is said or shown.
I thought my original biography was to be my 'magnum opus', but it looks as if this opus will be even more magnummy (that whirring sound you hear is my old Latin master, H.B.Smith, MA (Cantab), revolving in his grave!)

Cheers

Pat
