Have you tried 'The Amateur Gentleman' and/or 'Peregrine's Progress?' Personally I put those two right up there with 'The Broad Highway.' Actually there are about ten Farnol titles that I find highly satisfying, including of course the sea yarns 'The Winds of Fortune,' 'Adam Penfeather,' 'Black Bartlemy's Treasure,' and 'Martin Conisby's Vengeance.'
