I'm not sure I shared this with you in the past, but about 3 years ago -- in a moment of inspiration and respite -- I decided to scan a group of books from my collection and create an online slideshow.
At the time, I had just sat through another delightful viewing of one of my all-time favorite movies [as a young lad and even to this day], the 1938 Warner Bros classic, "The Adventures of Robin Hood", starring Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, Basil Rathbone, Claude Rains, Eugene Pallette & Alan Hale -- along with the wonderful work of the legendary fencing master Fred Cavens and the equally infamous archer extraordinaire Howard Hill. For us swashbuckling enthusiasts, this delightful film was capped by the equally stirring musical score of Erich Wolfgang Korngold.
With such inspiring images and sounds to encourage me, I expanded the original slideshow into a series of "moving pictures" [as, indeed, they once were called] -- to this I added a little bit of Korngold's wonderful score and presto.
Keep an eye open to see if you can identify the Farnol images.
For those who haven't seen it before, I provide the link below. Be sure to adjust the volume of your computer speakers first. If you don't already have it, you will need the free Shockwave internet browser plug-in available from adobe.com.
